As part of a health system, our practice has the benefit to offer ancillary services (such as physical capabilities testing at our therapy center) that stand alone clinics might not be able to easily offer. Also, our membership in a multidisciplinary physician group allows for timely referral to and communication with other specialists.

Telemedicine

WHS Occupational Medicine now offers easy access to our services without leaving the jobsite.  Your employee can be seen by one of our medical providers by using a smartphone or a computer with a camera & microphone.

We strive to conduct the highest level of occupational medicine through maintenance of specialty knowledge, use of best practice guidelines, adherence to American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) Code of Ethics, and performance of clinic quality evaluations.

Company-specific pre-placement “physical capacity testing” (PCT) can be customized to meet each employer’s needs. To ensure that prospective employees are physically capable of performing their job requirements, testing is individualized for the company and the employee’s specific job duties.

Testing is performed by Washington Health System Rehabilitation Services and can be completed the same day a pre-placement physical exam is performed (if one is required).  For companies who require both a pre-placement exam and PCT, a smooth and efficient process exists in which the physical exam is performed at Washington Health System Occupational Medicine and the prospective employee is then seen for PCT by the hospital’s Rehabilitation Services Department.  PCT results are sent directly to the potential employer the same day testing is performed.

Testing can also be completed when a physical exam is not required and can be arranged by contacting Sue Alrutz, Director of Rehabilitation Services by phone at (724) 223-3279 or by email, salrutz@whs.org.

Our providers and staff are highly knowledgeable in workers’ compensation, OSHA, MSHA, and the laws of other regulatory agencies.  Phrases such as “Lost Time” and “Recordability” have meaning to us.  We understand their impact on your business and the importance of keeping them at a minimum when possible.

We have a strong philosophy regarding prompt return to work.  Modified duty is ordered if an injured employee is not medically able to perform his/her regular duties.  Should the employee be placed on anything less than regular duty, regular follow-up and active case management are utilized to return the employee to regular duty as rapidly as is medically safe.

Standards of Care/Practice Guidelines promulgated by The American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) are used to guide your employee’s evidence-based treatment.

Testimonials

Having Occupational Medicine Center in my circle as a seasoned HR professional is truly a benefit in so many ways.  I have been associated with Occupational Medicine for many years now and they serve as my “medical go to” experts on so many work related issues and their responsiveness and attentiveness is priceless.  Especially now, with COVID-19 overwhelming all employers with unlimited circumstances and events, Occupational Medicine is available for consultation, testing and overall good sound medical advice.  Dr. Leslie and his team are ready and willing to tackle work related medical concerns and they understand the operational needs of the employer.  In my book, you can’t operate a business or HR unit without Occupational Medicine Center in your corner.

Trenna Passalacqua, VP of Human Resources, Blueprints

I would like to take this opportunity to say how good it is to be working with Dr. Leslie and the Washington Occupational Medicine staff. The ladies in the office are wonderful about trying to get our physicals set up in a timely manner. If I need one done especially fast, they do their best to set it up right away. Dr. Leslie is someone that I can call if I have a question, and he always takes the time to talk to me or calls me back as soon as possible. So this is a thank you to Dr. Leslie and all his staff for a job well done!

Brenda Cheek, Human Resources Assistant, Presbyterian SeniorCare

We have always had an excellent relationship with Occupational Medicine. Occupational Medicine is always available for whatever needs we have. They are very supportive with answering questions, appointments and testing. We highly recommend their services.

Great service and care. Friendly staff. Prompt review of workplace injuries.

The Occupational Medicine Team is very knowledgeable, friendly and accessible. They understand the employer’s goal of keeping costs and recordable injuries to a minimum while getting the employee back to work as soon as possible. Their follow up and communication with both the employee and employer is the best I’ve seen in the industry.

Great staff, prompt on visit time, very good at getting employee back to work ASAP.

By far the most outstanding occupational medicine clinic that we have worked with. Our experience has always been phenomenal. I have not seen another clinic that provides such a high level of care for our employees, while also having a tremendous understanding of OSHA standards and being able to provide the necessary care while also keeping the employer’s perspective in mind. WHS is the gold standard of occupational medicine.

Fantastic Services! Ease of appointments. Short notice accommodations and complete and proper medical care.

Dr. Leslie and his team are knowledgeable, professional, and willing to work with you every step of the way to get your employees evaluated and cared for. I would highly recommend Washington Occupational Medicine for all your employment medical needs!

I have the utmost respect for all that work in the clinic. I can’t say enough about the friendliness and professionalism I see each time I go. I recommend everyone looking to be treated like family go to this clinic.

Helpful, friendly staff and excellent care. I would highly recommend WHS Occupational Medicine group for any company.
