You want to welcome your baby in a birthing center that feels like home while receiving care from skilled providers who treat you like family.

That’s exactly what you’ll find at the CARE Center for Family Birth and Women’s Health at WHS Washington Hospital, the only hospital in Washington and Greene counties with a birthing center.

Comfort

During prenatal care, labor and delivery, and postpartum care, our birthing center is your home away from home, and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible. That’s why we designed the CARE Center for Family Birth and Women’s Health with input from people who understand your needs: new mothers and the providers who care for them.

Convenience

Support from family members is a key part of welcoming a new baby into the world, so we’ve made it simple and convenient for the important people in your life to be there for you.

  • In the family lounge, family members can relax, chat and catch up on emails and text messages. Children are sure to be enchanted by our colorful virtual fish tank and play area.
  • Snack and beverage machines are available in the family lounge.

Our spacious, modern postpartum and recovery rooms are bright, homey and include a variety of features to maximize comfort, including:

  • a comfy couch that converts into a bed for a spouse or partner
  • a spacious, tiled bathroom with two shower heads, one of which is detachable
  • retractable curtains for privacy while breastfeeding
  • USB ports
  • a family hospitality nook where complimentary snacks and beverages are available

Expertise

The health and safety of you and your baby are paramount from the moment you arrive at the CARE Center for Family Birth and Women’s Health to the moment you and your little one leave to go home. That’s why skilled providers are never more than a few steps away—two centralized nursing stations ensure our nurses can attend to your needs quickly and easily.

Whether you have a high-risk pregnancy or a routine one, a member of our neonatal resuscitation team will be present when you give birth, in case your baby needs immediate medical intervention. If your baby needs extra care after birth, the staff in our birthing center’s Level 2 special care nursery is ready to provide around-the-clock medical attention.
