Over the past year we have all been bombarded with information regarding the upcoming split between Highmark Health Insurance and UPMC hospitals and physicians and how that will impact the thousands of people that live within our region. There have been many questions raised, such as, will my insurance still be accepted and will I have to choose a new physician? Will my hospital be in network?
These are very concerning questions but THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY IF YOU RECEIVE YOUR HEALTH CARE FROM WASHINGTON HEALTH SYSTEM.
Washington Health System is an INDEPENDENT COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEM that is not owned or operated in any way by either UPMC or Highmark. We do cooperate and co-manage several programs with both of these systems, but we are not owned or operated by either of them or any of their subsidiaries.
Washington Health System will continue to accept both Highmark and UPMC Health Plan Insurance products as we currently do today no matter what happens between UPMC and Highmark. IF YOU ARE INSURED BY EITHER OF THESE PLANS THERE IS NO IMPACT OR ACTION NECESSARY ON YOUR PART IN ANY WAY TO CONTINUE TO RECEIVE THE CARE AND SERVICES OF THE WASHINGTON HEALTH SYSTEM AND ANY PHYSICIAN ON THE WASHINGTON HEALTH SYSTEM MEDICAL STAFF.
