women's health track
Required curriculum for women's health includes 4 months of OB/GYN. For residents interested in additional training we have a woman's health track that includes additional obstetrical and gynecology experience in the second and third year. All residents graduate with a minimum of 40 vaginal deliveries but those seeking additional experience have graduated with over 100 vaginal deliveries and additional surgical experience. This experience is designed for each resident and allows flexibility in providing the experience that each resident needs. We have a variety of settings where training occurs. Our Labor and Delivery suite delivers approximately 1000 woman annually. We have an OB/GYN clinic run by our own family medicine OB interested faculty. This includes a high risk OB clinic run in conjunction with a local group of obstetricians who collaborate in training our residents. We provide care at a local family planning clinic and help to provide for many of their gynecology procedures such as colposcopy, IUD insertion, and endometrial biopsies. We run our own colposcopy clinic and we perform a variety of minor gynecology procedures through our OB/GYN clinic and our family medicine offices. Residents completing this track can be equipped to provide low risk obstetrics and a variety of minor gynecology procedures including colposcopy.
